Beyond Deadlines The Soft Skills That Make Pickdi Members Shine

When you're improving your CV and putting together your portfolio, it's easy to focus on the hard skills - the software you've mastered, the campaigns you've run, the results you can quantify. Those are essential, and they’ll definitely get your application noticed. But what transforms a good candidate into a thriving Pickdi member? What’s the secret sauce that helps our team excel in a dynamic, remote environment? It’s the soft skills. To give you an inside look, we sat down with two of our members: Trung - Video Editor for Dr. Blet, and Crystal - Global Influencer Manager for Whipped. Their experiences reveal the crucial, yet often unspoken, qualities that truly matter here.

Proactive Problem-Solving - See a Challenge, Find a Way Remote work often means you won't have a manager looking over your shoulder to solve every little issue. Taking initiative is key. Trung faced a classic remote-work challenge right from the start: a language barrier. His direct manager was Korean and didn't speak English. Instead of waiting for help or letting it slow him down, Trung took charge. "I use translation tools like ChatGPT", he shared. "It's quite accurate, so my work with my manager has been smooth." He didn't see a roadblock, he saw a problem and independently found a modern solution. This proactive mindset is exactly what we look for. It's the ability to not just identify a problem, but to own it and find a practical way forward.

Deep Diligence - The Assignment is the Audition At Pickdi, the assignment round is more than just a box to tick. It’s our first real glimpse into how you work, think, and commit to a task. Both Trung and Crystal highlighted this as a turning point in their hiring process. Crystal, who had many strong competitors for her role, was told by her team lead that her assignment stood out. Why? "She said it seemed like I did it for real... I built everything from scratch." Crystal didn't just go through the motions, she invested time and effort to deliver genuine, thoughtful work. This level of diligence and attention to detail shows us you’re serious. It demonstrates a sense of ownership and a commitment to quality that goes far beyond just meeting a deadline.

Crystal Clear Communication - The Lifeline of Remote Work When your team is spread across different locations and cultures, communication becomes your most valuable tool. For Crystal, adapting to this was a huge learning curve and a major factor in her team's success. Her team's direction would sometimes change weekly - a stressful situation in any job. Yet, it worked because of constant, clear communication. "My team lead is the bridge... she always ensures both sides are satisfied," Crystal explained. "We understand why the changes are happening." She even learned the subtle nuances of cross-cultural digital communication. A simple emoticon in Vietnam can have a completely different feel in Korea. This awareness and adaptability in communication prevent misunderstandings and build a foundation of trust, allowing teams to navigate challenges smoothly.

Adaptability & Growth Mindset: Embrace the Evolution The roles at Pickdi aren't static. We work with dynamic brands in fast-paced markets. Being able to adapt and see change as an opportunity is crucial. Crystal's role evolved significantly from when she started. Initially, her work was more repetitive. Soon, she was handling paid collaborations, working directly with influencers, and strategizing content. "Each influencer is a different experience... it exceeded my initial expectations," she said. Instead of being intimidated by the shift, she embraced it as a chance to grow. She also learned from her Korean counterparts' disciplined, data-driven approach. This willingness to learn and adapt is what allows our members to not just keep up, but to grow professionally and find deeper satisfaction in their work.
