A Chat with Everlynn - Our Account Manager
A Real Look at Remote Work at Pickdi
Working remotely is an attractive option for many, but what is it actually like day-to-day? To give candidates a better understanding, we had a friendly chat with Everlynn, an Account Manager here at Pickdi.
Join us as we listen to Everlynn's story, from how she joined the team to her real-life experiences, to get an honest look into the work environment at Pickdi.
Q: Hi Everlynn, could you start by telling us a bit about yourself and how you came to join Pickdi?
Everlynn - Hi there. I graduated from Foreign Trade University. I started off studying French, then switched to business and spent a year as an exchange student in the UK. After returning, I worked for a short time at Lotte.
My journey to Pickdi was pretty interesting. I first applied for a position with one of Pickdi’s clients, but it required Korean language skills. After my interview with the CEO, he emailed me a week or two later and invited me to interview for the Account Manager role on Pickdi's internal team. Actually, on the same afternoon I interviewed with him, I had just received a job offer from FPT. I was open about this and told him I chose Pickdi because I felt I could learn a lot more from him. And that’s how I started here.
Q: So after working here for a while, what do you enjoy most about Pickdi?
Everlynn - The first thing is definitely the ability to work remotely. For example, there's a big storm in Hanoi today, and having to go outside right now would be terrible. Working from home lets me avoid bad weather like storms or intense heat.
But it’s not just about being remote. The environment here is really great. The people on the team are fun and always supportive of each other. Our CEO once joked that I probably wouldn't be here if the company wasn't remote, but I think even if we had an office in Hanoi, I would still want to come to work because our team is just that wonderful.
Q: You mentioned a supportive environment. Can you share a specific example of that?
Everlynn - There's one story that really stands out. I used to have a very time-consuming task of sending a weekly schedule to clients using a Google Sheet. At the time, I had to send it to about 40 different group chats, and it took me 3 hours of manual work. Sometimes I even had to do it on the weekend, and it was easy to make mistakes.
I told our CEO that the process was taking too much time. Immediately, he and the technical team looked for a solution and instructed me to use an automated tool for me. Now, even though the number of clients has doubled, the same task only takes me about an hour.
It shows that the leadership here really listens and finds ways to solve problems for their staff. Our CEO always says, "Fine is not okay. It must be GREAT." Things should always be improved to be better. I really appreciate this because not every boss is willing to change things to help their employees work more effectively.
Q: A big part of any job is the people. What are the team members who work for Pickdi’s clients like?
Everlynn - I think the quality of our members is very high. Pickdi has a rather long recruitment process, and because of that, we’ve been able to select people who have a great work ethic.
Working remotely requires you to be very proactive and responsible, and our members all have those qualities. To be honest, I'm really impressed by their profiles. We have some very talented people, like a 3D artist whose work is so beautiful and professional it could be used in ad campaigns for major brands. He doesn't want a traditional office job; he just wants a free lifestyle in Da Lat. The remote work trend has helped Pickdi attract amazing talents like him.
Q: Based on your experience, what kind of person do you think would be a good fit for a job at Pickdi?
Everlynn - From what I’ve seen, this job is a good fit for:
Young and tech-savvy people: Our work involves a lot of online tools, so it can be a bit challenging if you're not comfortable with technology.
People who are very proactive: Because we work from a distance, you need to be a self-starter who actively updates your progress and communicates constantly with the team and clients.
Those who are open to freelance-style work: This job offers a lot of flexibility, but it's not a stable job in the way a bank or government position is. Clients can end contracts at any time.
Anyone who wants international experience: This is a really great opportunity. You get to work directly with major brands from the US, Japan, Korea, and more. For example, our influencer marketers have to find hundreds of people a day for international markets, and our designers get to work with companies like LG. This kind of experience is very valuable.
If you are looking for a flexible work environment, want to get experience with international projects, and are ready for a challenge, then Pickdi would be a great place for you.
Thank you for your honest sharing, Everlynn! We hope this conversation gives candidates a clearer and more realistic view of the career opportunities at Pickdi!
