WFH Life at PICKDI
A Chat with Jason, Graphic Designer at Vetflux
Curious about what it’s really like to work remotely at PICKDI? We know that remote work is the future, offering flexibility and balance that traditional office jobs often can't. But what does that look like day-to-day?
To give you an inside scoop, we sat down for a virtual coffee with Jason, one of our talented Graphic Designers. He shared his honest experiences, from his initial worries to why he believes remote work at PICKDI is a game-changer for his career and life.
Q: Hey Jason, thanks for chatting with us! Could you start by telling us a bit about yourself and your role?
Sure! I'm Jason, a Graphic Designer here at PICKDI. I joined back in late March. My daily work involves designing social media assets for one of our Korean clients. Typically, I create carousel posts, handling about 2-4 tasks a day. It's a steady and creative workflow.
Q: Starting a new remote job can be daunting. Were you nervous at first?
My main concern was communication. My spoken English is okay for daily conversation, but I worried it wasn't perfect. However, since most of our communication is text-based, it's been completely fine. Tools like translation AI are a great backup if I ever need them. Now, I feel totally comfortable and settled in. The work is consistent, and I know what to expect each day.
Q: What's one of the biggest advantages you've found with remote work?
The flexibility is incredible. If you know how to manage your time, you can multitask and handle personal errands without stress. For me, it means I can work on other passions as long as it doesn't affect my job's progress. And, of course, you save so much time and money. No commuting in traffic, no gas costs, and no worrying about the weather. It adds up to a lot less stress and more savings.
Q: PICKDI receives hundreds of applications for each role. What do you think made your profile stand out?
I think it came down to my professional attitude. Outside of work, I'm pretty easy-going and sociable. But when it's time to work, I'm very meticulous and disciplined. I believe in being punctual and paying close attention to the small details. There’s a saying, "attitude over skill " and I think my commitment to professionalism during the interview and trial period made a real difference.
Q: You work closely with a Korean client. There can be stereotypes about Korean work culture being demanding. What's your experience been like?
I’d say they are demanding, but in the best way possible! They are incredibly detail-oriented and careful, which is a quality I share and respect. Their feedback is always precise and professional. They notice the small things that truly improve the design, which shows a deep understanding of their product.
Communication is always clear and direct. If there's an issue, they explain it thoroughly and ask for my input on the solution. It feels like a genuine 50/50 partnership, which I really appreciate.
Q: Let's talk about something on every candidate's mind: the service fee. How do you feel the service fee at PICKDI compares to the market?
I feel the service fee is very fair and perfectly matches the workload. Compared to the general market, it's definitely competitive, maybe even a little higher than average. Honestly, for this level of pay at an in-office job, you'd probably be facing an overwhelming amount of work. Here, the balance is just right.
Q: Some people worry that remote work can limit career growth. What are your thoughts on that?
I think it depends entirely on your personal goals. For me, remote work has given me more time to learn and grow. I'm currently studying UI/UX design in my free time to deepen my skills.
My long-term dream is to open my own clothing shop. This job provides a stable income and the flexibility I need to pursue that dream simultaneously. It’s the best of both worlds. For experienced professionals who know how to manage themselves, remote work is an amazing opportunity to build the life you want.
Q: Last question! If you had to describe your experience at PICKDI in one word, what would it be?
(Laughs) That's tough! It’s hard to pick just one. But honestly, it’s just been excellent. I’d give it a 10/10. I’m really happy here
