More Than a Job
A Year of Growth in Remote Customer Service with Zoe
What does it take to succeed in a remote customer service role? And how do you grow when you're miles away from your team?
To find out, we chatted with the amazing Zoe - Customer Service Specialist who has been with PICKDI and our client, Anua, for over a year. She joined when our team was just starting out and has seen it grow firsthand. From her practical tips on self-discipline to her experience with our Korean partners, Zoe shares an honest look at what a career at PICKDI is all about.
Q: Hi Zoe! Thanks for joining us. Can you tell us about your background and how you found your way to PICKDI?
Hello! I'm 25 and have about two years of experience in e-commerce. I found PICKDI through a job post on Facebook over a year ago—it was actually one of their very first recruitment posts! The role was in e-commerce, which matched my background perfectly, so I decided to apply. After two rounds of interviews, I was thrilled to get the job.
Q: You mentioned having relevant experience. Do you think that helped you stand out among other candidates?
Definitely. I believe my two years of experience was a major advantage. It meant I could jump right in without needing a long training period. My English communication skills also helped me have a smooth and successful interview process.
Q: You’ve been in your role for over a year now. What has that journey been like, especially on the Anua team?
It's been a journey of incredible growth! When I first joined, the team was small, maybe 7-8 people, and I was the only Vietnamese member. It was a unique position to be in. Now, our team has grown to about 18-19 people, and I have several other Vietnamese colleagues from PICKDI. It's been so comforting to have that sense of community and more teammates to rely on. It makes communication much easier and you never feel alone.
Q: This is a fully remote role. How does it compare to your previous offline job?
The biggest change is the time I've gotten back in my day. I used to spend about an hour commuting. Now, that time is mine. I don’t have to deal with traffic jams or worry about bad weather. Another huge plus is the freedom to choose my own workspace. That flexibility has made a massive difference for me.
Q: Self-discipline is crucial for remote work. What's your method for staying focused and managing your time effectively?
My secret is actually pretty simple: I set a lot of alarms! I have alarms for when I start work, for my lunch break, for when I come back, and for when I finish. It’s a great way to structure my day and stay on schedule. After more than a year, I have a good sense of how long each task will take, so I can plan my day effectively to ensure everything gets done.
Q: What has it been like working with a Korean company like Anua?
It's been a very positive experience. From day one, the Anua team was incredibly supportive. We communicate in English, and they are always quick to respond and help if I have a question. If I make a mistake, they point it out directly and constructively, which allows me to fix it right away and learn from it. I haven’t faced any major cultural barriers; everyone is professional and helpfu
Q: A question all candidates have is about the service fee. You recently renewed your contract. Are you satisfied with your compensation?
Yes, I’m very satisfied. From the beginning, I was able to discuss and agree on a service fee that I felt was fair. When I recently renewed my contract, the terms were even better. I feel that what I receive is a great reflection of my work, and I'm very happy with it.
Q: In what ways have you grown professionally during your year at PICKDI?
I've grown so much, especially in my communication skills. In customer service, you're constantly talking to customers, colleagues, and platform partners. Doing this every day has made me a much more effective communicator. My English has also improved significantly since I use it daily. The constant feedback and support from the team have been key to my development.
Q: Finally, how would you describe the experience of working remotely with PICKDI?
I’d say it's an experience that is absolutely worth trying. It brings so many benefits, like flexibility and time-saving, along with new challenges that help you grow. The best part is having dedicated support from both PICKDI and our client, Anua. It removes any barriers you might think exist in remote work.
